Confidentiality Protected by Law
Anguilla values its well-earned reputation as a law-abiding and well-regulated jurisdiction, with a favourable business climate. Strict provisions have been enacted to guarantee the confidentiality of sensitive business records.
As the island has neither income tax nor currency exchange regulations foreign currency and tax offences cannot be investigated in Anguilla. There are no tax treaties between Anguilla and any foreign country.
The Confidential Relationships Act prohibits the disclosure of information relating to a person's financial business, subject to certain exceptions, in Anguilla. The Common Law principle of confidentiality between a client and his lawyer or banker also applies.
Anguilla recently enacted the Mutual Legal Assistance (Taxation Provisions) Act 2005 which commits the jurisdiction to abide by the provisions of the EU directive on Savings enacted in 2004.
